The API Update

The # of API Examinees SOAR - Many more individuals are taking the API exams. A total of 2086 examinees took either the 510 or 570 exam over the last 12 months (Dec 2006 & June 2007 exams). Two years previously the total was 1290. This is over a 60% increase. Also guessing the December 2007 exam will again break examination records. Major impact of the increased API examinees - CLASSES ARE FILLING UP ABOUT 8 MONTHS IN ADVANCE. If interested in a MSTS class PLAN AHEAD!!

API 571 Certification - The first API 571 exam on Degradation Mechanisms was given in March 2006. This is a very important certification for those wanting to know more about the "enemies" of pressure equipment, the "Degradation Terrorists". So far only 62 of 168 have passed the exam. Only 37%! Is this a hard exam???

More API Certifications - The first API 580 exam on RBI was given in March 2007. In 2008 API will offer an API 577 Welding Inspection certification.

API 510 Rewrite - The 9th edition of API 510 has been issued and is now included in the API exam. This is a total rewrite of the code. This new edition follows a format similar to API 570. Also, much work was done to improve the readability of the code. One major new concept covered in this edition is that each vessel and relief device must have a documented Inspection Strategy.

Beloved Chump - Gets Branded !!!

Chump, our faithful class mascot of many years was recently abused and branded by a cast of unsavory characters. They were so proud of the work, they even photographed their deed! Justice will be served!

Chump has a forgiving heart and will continue his most important role in helping API students remember the 100's of closed book questions as we play, Stump the Chump.

Class Manuals - Preprinted Tabs & Stickers

We provide our students with Preprinted Tabs for the codes used in all API classes. This is a big improvement over hand written tabs. We also tab the codes prior to covering that section in class. The student now has an opportunity in class to practice using their tabs.

Our students are also provided with Preprinted Stickers to use in their codes. These look nice and will reduce the time in class required to copy specific info in your codes. Example: In ASME Section VIII the hydrotest formula is written as a sentence. So a sticker will be provided with the math formula. This will be neat, quick and legible.

MSTS Online! We're glad to have this website up and running. We want our students to have better access to our class data. If you have suggestions, we have "ears to hear." To mail comments select: Comments/Suggestions
